Nilanjan (Neil) Bhattacharya is an experienced communications and fundraising professional. He started his career in PR/corporate communications, and later switched to the nonprofit sector. His areas of expertise are: prospect research, grant writing, building relationships with existing and potential donors, donor stewardship, database management, direct marketing and marketing communications.
He has a strong interest in humanitarian causes and is particularly concerned for the welfare of vulnerable and marginalized groups such as low-income people, unemployed or underemployed individuals, immigrants, underprivileged youth, minority populations and the elderly. Over the past decade he has worked at various New York City-area nonprofits including STRIVE/East Harlem Employment Services, Citymeals-on-Wheels, Jumpstart for Young Children, Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York and Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation.
Among Nilanjan’s many interests are cooking, movies, sparkling conversation, non-fiction writing and human nature. He’s an avid dabbler in the Myers Briggs personality typology -- his own personality type is ENFP, a type that is known for their friendly, social and enthusiastic natures. Besides his business writing, he is also an NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) award winning translator of Indian literature into English. He is an alumnus of the University of Texas, Austin.
