Free Resources and Training for Learning at Home: Mouse's Response to School Closings

We hope everyone is taking care of themselves in this time of growing uncertainty as more offices and schools are going virtual.

In response to recent school closings and families choosing to stay home, Mouse would like to support students, educators, and families by continuing to offer activities that can keep young people learning STEM and computer science digitally during this time.

Free Training for Educators on Mouse Create and to Transition to Online Learning

Mouse is providing online professional development sessions to all educators and adults. We are adding offerings to help educators transition to online learning in addition to our other training sessions.

For workshops on Google online learning tools like Google Classroom, Drive, Docs, and more:

    • NYC DOE educators should visit the district's remote learning calendar to sign up
    • All other districts can read more on this one-pager and email educators@mouse.org to book a training

For Mouse Create workshops on remote STEM and computer science education:

NEW: Mouse Open Projects Resource for Free Online Activities with No Account Necessary

Mouse has created a new curriculum resource, Mouse Open Projects that allows students to get started on Mouse’s learning content without signing into an account, educator guidance, or materials. We created this resource to help all learners, regardless of their situations, to keep engaging with STEM and computer science in school or at home.

Mouse Open Projects has 10 of the projects that educators can find on our online learning platform, Mouse Create. Keep reading to find out more.

FREE: Mouse Create Full Accounts and Training for Educators

Mouse Create is a free tool for all schools and youth serving organizations to access creative STEM and computer science curriculum, regardless of school closures or re-openings. In response to school closures, Mouse is offering free Full Memberships to Mouse Create for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year.

Educators can learn more about getting a Mouse Create Full Membership account at this link.

    Virtual Alternatives to Mouse Programs

Mouse’s year-long after school technology innovation program, Design League, will now be held weekly online. Mouse’s NYC-wide annual student project fair, the Emoti-Con NYC Youth Digital Media & Technology Challenge, will transition to a virtual event to celebrate and showcase student ideas and prototypes developed throughout the year.

Keep in touch to learn more about how Mouse is refocusing our work in response to school closings.
