EdTech Nonprofit Honors Bre Pettis of MakerBot Industries, NYC Entrepreneur Joanne Wilson and Best Buy Children’s Foundation at MOUSE@15 Event

Students Dazzle Silicon Alley Tech Execs with 3D Printing, Robotics, Games and Geek Chic

WHAT: Mouse, a national nonprofit that empowers underserved youth to learn, lead and create with technology, is celebrating its 15th anniversary and hosting a fundraising event honoring Bre Pettis, Co-Founder and CEO, MakerBot Industries, Joanne Wilson, entrepreneur, education advocate and Gotham Gal, and the Best Buy Children’s Foundation.

The event will be an interactive celebration with students dazzling NYC tech industry execs with demos of the latest technologies, including 3D printing, robotics, game design and other cutting edge technologies.

WHEN: Monday, May 20, 2013 from 6:00-9:00pm

WHERE: The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, Pier 61 23rd Street and West Side Highway, New York City

DETAILS: Attendees will visit and interact with a series of Mouse “labs” as student hosts show off working gadgets, applications and projects they developed via high tech platforms like robotics and 3D printers. NYC’s brightest tech stars will connect with the best and brightest from Silicon Alley to Silicon Valley. Dress code is Geek chic, ties are NOT recommended and may be snipped off at the door.

Founded during NYC’s Silicon Alley boom in the 90’s, Mouse has become a tech education force in NYC and beyond. Now 15 years later, Mouse continues to empower thousands of youth across the country with essential technology and leadership skills, preparing this next generation of digital innovators.

This month, NYC Comptroller Liu recommended that Mouse programs be implemented in all NYC middle and high schools to decrease the “digital divide” and expose young people to technologies that have real world applications.
