Polk Bros. Foundation Provides $50,000 Grant in Support of Chicago TechCrew Program
Mouse is honored to have been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Polk Bros. Foundation. The foundation has funded Mouse since 2008, generously contributing $200,000 in support of our TechCrew program running in Chicago public schools.
The Polk Bros. Foundation seeks to improve quality of life for people of Chicago. It partners with local non-profits, working to reduce the impact of poverty and provide Chicago residents with better access to quality education, preventative health care, high quality arts programs and basic human services. Sandra P. Guthman, Chair & CEO, Polk Bros. Foundation, visited Eli Whitney School in Chicago, to see the direct impact of the funding the foundation provides.
In receiving this outstanding grant, Mouse developed a 12-month strategy to build a stronger partnership with the Chicago Public Schools. Mouse intends to strengthen relations by improving communications, providing training for new charter school partners and online-support. Mouse will increase its focus on 15-20 schools, utilizing Mouse content, curriculum and tools, and will also reach out to new partners to explore additional funding opportunities.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Sandra Guthman and the foundation for their generous support and wish Ms. Guthman the very best on her recently announced retirement.
With the support of our partners like Polk Bros., Mouse will continue to provide innovative programs that help youth across the country to develop skills and build pathways toward their future success.
