Cross Creek Academy Mouse Squad Seen as Tech Leaders in their District!
The Cross Creek Academy School (CCAS), a member of the National Heritage Academies Charter Network, has just completed their first year in the Mouse Squad program. They have already come close to finishing the Certification Curriculum, and are being recognized as the tech leaders in their district!
Recently, Alexandra Brown, Cross Creek Academy Mouse Squad Coordinator, brought her Squad to the local IT center that serves schools in their district. The IT team gave her students a tour of the help desk and server room, and then provided the opportunity to take apart laptops and learn how to code. Then, the tables turned when one of her students started to teach members of the IT team how to use Scratch!
The IT team loves the Cross Creek Academy Mouse Squad and has become a great resource for them. Whenever the MOUSE Squad has a problem they cannot fix, they call the IT team for help.
Similarly, the Cross Creek Academy Mouse Squad has become a terrific resource for the IT team. Joseph, an 8th grader in the Squad, figured out how to fix a bug that was making it impossible to use headphones on the school computers—a problem that the IT team had not been able to solve!
Alexandra had Joseph call them to tell them what he had done, and in the middle of his explanation the tech on the other end of the line put him on speakerphone so everyone at the help desk could hear—and now the district’s help center uses this fix developed by a Mouse Squad student, and publicly attributes the solution to him!
We look forward to hearing more in the coming school year about the amazing Cross Creek Academy Mouse Squad!
