Holiday Mouse Microproject Winners
Over the holidays, our monthly Microproject competition challenged you all to role play as physicists and explore the possibilities of alternate or parallel universes by coding a choose-your-own adventure story in Javascript. The submissions we received were adventurous, creative, zany, complex and hilarious! We’ve come to expect great things from the microproject competitors and this month delivered as usual. Thanks for your terrific submissions!
This month, we decided to try something different. Since so many of our favorite submissions came from two amazing schools, we thought we’d award the usual Grand Prize $50 Gift Card to each of them for their impressive work.
Grand Prize
Our Grand Prize winner is Cedar Middle School in Hesperia, California! There were many noteworthy submissions from this school but the ones that stood out the most were made by robert.n, yvonna.m, and adrian.l. We enjoyed the multiple endings written into robert.n’s entry while yvonna.m’s submission really embraced the storytelling aspect of the challenge to engage the reader. Adrian.l’s submission made excellent use of a story map to help keep track of the story’s many unfolding choices. Great work, Cedar Middle!
1st Runner Up
Our 1st Runner Up, receiving the same $50 Gift Card, usually reserved for the Grand Prize winner, is P.S. 139 in Queens, NYC! 321davidc, 319fatimam, 317amrita, and 317stevene all made interesting stories that used the multiple choices feature to its full potential. Both 321davidc’s and 319fatimam’s submissions expanded the number of choices the reader is first given to really bring the tale to the next level, while 317amrita and 317stevene included their own custom made GIF images, adding a unique flair to their entries. Excellent work, PS. 139!
Our Grand Prize and 1st Runner up will each receive a $50 Adafruit Gift Certificate for their school!
If you’re looking for another chance to compete for bragging rights and a gift card for your school, then you’re in luck. The next microproject is already open for submissions! This month your challenge is to program an interactive greeting card in Scratch.
