NYC Council Awards Mouse a Record $477K for FY18 School Year!

Mouse is thrilled to receive a record $477,500 in funding from the New York City Council to support our students and educators across the five boroughs. We greatly appreciate the City Council for continuing it’s longtime support with its largest investment in Mouse!

This funding provides crucial support to our NYC Mouse youth and educators, empowering them to explore new technologies and acquire skills needed for their future success. Thanks to this support, Mouse can provide NYC youth access to STEM learning opportunities each month at our Mouse Maker Night events, and professional development trainings and learning kit materials for NYC educators.

We are honored to receive discretionary funding from Council Members Borelli, Cabrera, Chin, Constantinides, Gibson, Johnson, Koo, Koslowitz, Richards, Rose, Rosenthal, Vacca, and Torres and $275K in funding from Speaker Mark-Viverito to support our NYC Mouse network as well as our Mouse Design League program.

Mouse programs in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island will receive $130K in funding through the Digital Inclusion and Literacy Initiative, created by Council Member Vacca to address the disparities in access to the internet and increase digital literacy across the City. Mouse thanks Council Members Rosenthal, Vacca, Rose, and Borelli for empowering our students to gain 21st century skills and education through this initiative.

Through the Greener NYC initiative, Mouse will provide materials for our Green Tech Course and professional development training to Mouse educators in Staten Island this school year. Thanks to Council Member Borelli for supporting educators and students through this initiative and environmentally friendly focused programs that encourage education, advocacy, community service, and green-job training.

Huge thanks to the the NYC Council for investing in Mouse and the future of our NYC students who create with technology to solve real problems and make meaningful change!
