Jessica Garcia,
Program Coordinator
Jessica Garcia (they/she), a proud Queens native, joined Mouse in the fall of 2024.
Jess brings a decade of experience working in educational spaces with a focus on STEM. From being a frequent visitor to a museum Explainer at the New York Hall of Science, Jessica has grown to be a passionate advocate for hands-on learning.
Their experiences sparked an interest to pursue and earn Bachelors’ Degrees in both Childhood Education and Media Studies from Hunter College. As a proud CUNY graduate from the QUEST program (Quality Urban Elementary School Teachers), they have gained experience teaching in classrooms citywide with a honed focus on culturally responsive teaching.
Jess is also a natural creative with a fascination for interactive media, ranging from physical computing to UX design. Upon graduating, they explored this more as a STEM instructor with STEM from Dance; working alongside dance educators to equip girls of color with the tools they need to pursue and excel in STEM careers.
Tailoring their facilitation to meet the diverse needs of their students, Jess often integrates elements of human-centered design into their work to make education more accessible, fun, and engaging to underserved populations. They strive to tackle new challenges as a Program Coordinator by cultivating community and helping to strengthen relationships with partnering schools.
Outside of work, you can find Jess taking walks out in nature, whisking up a matcha latte, or on their Nintendo Switch with a cozy game in hand.
