April Mouse MicroProject Winners

For April, we asked you all to think about how our planet supports life by writing a choose-your-own-adventure story featuring a much hotter or colder Earth using the inklewriter storytelling tool. Your submissions were immersive, imaginative, and had us going back again and again to see how our choices could reach a different ending. Thank you for your spectacular stories!

Grand Prize

open

Winning our Grand Prize is “What if the Earth wasn't the Earth” by ss359866 at McPherson Magnet School in Orange, California. We enjoyed ss359866’s decision to explore both if the earth grew hotter and if it grew colder, and the options that are given to the reader feel well thought out and realistic. We found ourselves going back to the beginning of the tale just to explore more options and find even more interesting paths to the multiple endings ss359866 dreamt up. Excellent work, ss359866!

1st Runner Up

open

Our 1st Runner up is “Frozen Earth” by 119673@cvusd.co from Hillsdale Middle School in El Cajon, California. Frozen Earth took inspiration from the story written by Alex on the Mouse Team and followed an unnamed main character who has to choose a new job on a colder earth. Both job choices have detailed descriptions of what they’re like in order to bring the reader deep into the experience. Nice work, 119673@cvusd.co!

2nd Runner Up

open

Our 2nd Runner Up is “Too Hot or Too Cold” by roscomouse10 at Roscomare Road Elementary School in Los Angeles, California. roscomouse10 really embraced the creative aspects of inklewriter and the choose-your-own-adventure story format by following Zeus, the ancient Greek God of Thunder, for the main character. Read through the story to see what Zeus does next in a hotter or colder world. Congratulations, roscomouse10!

Our honorable mentions go out this month to:

The Cold Earth by Panda789 was elaborate and well thought out.

The Secret Tunnel by roscomouse2 follows a girl and her pet rabbit on an adventure.

Our Grand Prize Winner will receive a $50 Best Buy Gift Certificate for their school, and our 1st and 2nd Runners up will each win Papertronics Lunar modules!

In this month’s microproject, it’s your turn to show us how to do something new! Write a tutorial to teach a skill you’ve already mastered!
