Mouse Student Zainab Attends White House Science Fair!
President Obama hosted the 3rd Annual White House Science Fair, celebrating over 100 student winners, participating in STEM competitions across the country. Zainab, 11th grader, was one of two members of the Mozilla’s National Hive Learning Networks representing the Mouse program at Hudson High School of Learning Technologies in New York City.
Zainab is a digital media tech expert in her school and designer of technologies that positively impact our world. She worked with a team of Mouse Corps youth to design a project called the Dining Band, a wrist-mounted Arduino circuit that communicates the location of food on a plate for diners who are blind and visually impaired.
Mozilla’s Executive Director Mark Surman also attended to speak about efforts to teach technology skills and, with the help of the White House, to kick off Mozilla’s Maker Party 2013 summer campaign, which will celebrate innovations across the globe, including, video remixes, apps, webpages and DIY robots.
