Credit Suisse Volunteers Mentor and Inspire Mouse Students
On May 30th, Mouse students from Baruch College Campus High School (BCCHS) and Mouse's advanced design and technology program presented their technology and digital media projects at the 7th Annual Emoti-Con.
Their projects ranged from adaptive technology prototypes for individuals with Cerebral Palsy to projects that encourage people to recycle. While their projects addressed different social issues, they were all supported by several incredible mentors from Credit Suisse.
“It is great knowing that there are people in the corporate world that want to help students,” stated Isabela, a member of the Baruch Tech Team. “We learn about their career paths and they help us with marketing, project management, and presentation skills. It’s phenomenal!”
During the school year, Credit Suisse employees worked closely with Mouse students from BCCHS on multiple projects, continuing and expanding their mentorship program from the previous year. Credit Suisse volunteers use their technological expertise and professional skills when mentoring BCCHS students.
In addition to their guidance on current projects, Credit Suisse mentors have also helped better prepare Baruch students for future college and career success through their “Career Seminar Tech Talks” series. This series offers BCCHS students the opportunity to learn about a variety of topics and also to explore different career paths.
This year’s “Tech Talks” included presentations on project management and green technologies, as well a presentation titled “Brains to Bytes,” which covered the progression of technology with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and supercomputers, and how careers will be shaped by these advancements in the near future.
Credit Suisse also hosted students to a tour of their “Smart Working Floor,” where they had the chance to see a newly designed professional space and learn about how Credit Suisse used data analytics to inform the design of this space.
Credit Suisse mentors expanded their impact beyond Baruch this year to Mouse students across NYC who participate in Mouse Corps, our after school design and technology program.
As Mouse Corps prepared for Emoti-Con on May 30th, ten mentors from Credit Suisse joined them in late April to help finalize their projects designed to assist individuals with cerebral palsy. With less than a month until Emoti-Con, Credit Suisse mentors provided MOUSE Corps students with assistance in finalizing details and features of their projects as well as advice on the best way to pitch their prototypes.
We are incredibly thankful for this year’s Credit Suisse volunteers, who share their professional experience and insights with more than 80 Mouse students. Their support and mentorship better prepare MOUSE students for success in their school projects and their future careers.
As our students say it best, here are the responses from the Baruch Tech Team about working with their mentors:
