Emoti-Con 2022 Competition Dates Are Here!

Join us for the 14th annual Emoti-Con NYC teen innovation project fair and competition celebrating teens who believe in using media and technology to make positive change in our communities.

Emoti-Con 2022 will continue to be a virtual (asynchronous) event, so you can participate safely from anywhere.

🏆 Competition Schedule 🏆

April 13: Project Submission Opens

We will share a link to submit your project presentations online. Projects with good documentation (slides, images, text, videos) that explain your idea and your design process are more likely to be selected as winners.

May 16: Project Submission Deadline

Teams must complete the project submission form before midnight on May 16.

May 23-June 3: Emoti-Con Virtual Project Fair (12 days!)

During the asynchronous Project Fair, community members and judges will evaluate your submissions and leave feedback on your project page. Students can check out the projects from other teams around the city and leave encouraging feedback and emojis.

June 10: Award Ceremony

We’ll announce the winners at noon on Friday, June 10. Organize a watch party with your team to celebrate! (Check out last year's winners here.)

Awards: Most Innovative, Best Pitch, Most Entertaining, Most Social Impact and Best Point of View.

Coolcoolcool, but, what IS Emoti-Con?

The Emoti-Con NYC Youth Digital Media and Technology Challenge is an annual competition and celebration for middle and high school students from NYC who believe in innovation for social change.

In 2021, over 450 NYC middle and high school students presented 145 digital media, technology and design projects.

The event has been developed through a unique collaboration between youth designers, alumni leaders, and NYC youth-serving organizations, including Code Nation, Global Kids, Mouse, the New York Public Library, and Parsons School for Design.
