735 NYC Teens Present Digital Innovations at the Emoti-Con Virtual Project Fair

With 194 project presentations from 735 middle and high school designers, developers, and media-makers, the 14th annual Emoti-Con NYC Youth Digital Media and Tech Project Fair is our biggest event ever.

From Monday, May 23 - Friday, June 3, we invite you to join the Emoti-Con community and help us celebrate the hard work and creativity of NYC youth.

    👏 5/23 - 6/3: Explore the Fair, Give Feedback & Support

Great innovation requires collaboration, reflection and a community of peers and mentors who give lots of support.

75 volunteer judges with careers in applied media and technology from organizations including AWS, Google, IBM, Meta, Verizon and Wix will review projects and provide mentorship to student teams.

At the bottom of each student project page is a feedback form where anyone (not just official judges) can share encouraging emojis, comments, ideas and questions.

    More About Emoti-Con

Emoti-Con is NYC's 14th Annual Youth Digital Media & Technology Challenge- a project fair for students across NYC who believe in digital innovation as a tool for positive change in the world around them. Since 2009, more than 3000 teens (87% BIPOC and/or Latin/x) have participated!

Emoti-Con is a culminating celebration of the creative work produced all year after school programs from organizations within the Hive NYC Learning network (like Global Kids, New-York Historical Society, Educational Video Center- and more) and in classrooms within public schools through CS4ALL NYC, Mouse Design League and many other DOE programs.

Emoti-Con is designed, planned and run by young innovators. The event has been developed through a unique collaboration between youth designers, an alumni committee and NYC youth-serving organizations from the Hive NYC Learning Network who form the Emoti-Con Steering Committee: Code Nation, DreamYard, Global Kids, Mouse, the New York Public Library, and Parsons School of Design.

    2022 Sponsors

This year's event would not be possible without excellent partners and collaborators.

We'd like to thank our supporters at Best Buy, the Pinkerton Foundation, the Simons Foundation, and the NYC DOE's Department of Instructional and Information Technology (DIIT). Their support demonstrates a commitment to growing design-thinking and innovation skills among youth and educators citywide.
