Give the Gift of Learning via Mouse
The nonprofit sector has been hard hit by the COVID-19 crisis. In response, nonprofit leaders have designated May 5, 2020 as #GivingTuesdayNow as a public call to action to galvanize support for organizations like ours.
Mouse has a very important role to play in revamping the K-12 learning ecosystem in New York City in the coming months. However, in order to do this work, we need your help.
Our offices, like most others, have been closed for over a month-and-a-half now because of the COVID-19 crisis. We miss welcoming groups of eager students to our vibrant learning events. But that doesn't mean we’ve been inactive. In fact, Mouse has played a frontline role in meeting the emergency educational needs of our city.
Responding to a call from the NYC Department of Education after schools closed, Mouse has:
- Trained more than 3,900 teachers in online teaching methods
- Helped more than 100,000 NYC students get access to online learning
- Digitized youth programs like the upcoming Emoti-Con NYC Youth Digital Media & Technology Challenge and Design League
Besides in-school learning, students have lost a great deal this year -- among them, the joy and excitement of participating in creative projects with their peers. To restore some of that magic, Mouse is running a virtual version of our annual Emoti-Con NYC Youth Digital Media & Technology Challenge in partnership with Hive NYC, Global Kids, Parsons, and NY Public Library.
Middle and high school students will now be able to submit their design projects to this city-wide competition until May 22nd. On June 10th, the judges’ committee will announce the winning projects with virtual fanfare and pageantry.
Mouse is proud to be able to continue our work with students and educators during this crisis. Please give generously today so we can continue to make great strides in finding new ways to help our community in these challenging times.
