The second of this year’s Microprojects presented you with a thrilling challenge: designing a 360° haunted house for viewers to enjoy in VR. We received numerous submissions that explored the bounds of virtual reality, haunted houses and the possible mashups that can fall in between. There we so many great entries that filled us with just the right amount of fright for the season. Thank you for your spectacular haunted VR creations!

Grand Prize

Our  Grand Prize winner of the October 2017 Microproject is “No end house” made by Rora.Mason04 at Cedar Middle School in Hesperia, California! Rora.Mason04 took the haunted house theme to the next level by creating multiple rooms within their “no end house” that each have their own feel and story. 1st Runner Up

Our 1st Runner up is “Family Forest- A Horror Game” by FrenchFry from WT White High School in Dallas, Texas. This eerie VR experience features a storm-swept forest where several lost family members leave messages for you to find from beyond the grave! The haunting music FrenchFry included mixes well with the dark and dreary atmosphere of the forest to set the general tone to thoroughly spooky! Great work, FrenchFry! View Project >

2nd Runner Up

Our 2nd Runner up is “what’s in the box?” by tsoawesome at St. Edmund Preparatory High School in Brooklyn, New York. Have you ever felt like someone was watching you? Tsoawesome makes clever use of the uneasy feeling that comes from being watched by programming a character to stalk the VR user while visiting this creation. Keep your eyes peeled for the man in black and any other surprises that may appear as you stay vigilant to all the sneaky movements around you. Fantastic stuff, tsoawesome! View Project >

Our honorable mentions go out this month to:

Haunted Horror by magsirK made impressive use of the Scenes feature in CoSpaces to tell a multi-level story about a dream gone wrong.

We received so many submissions that really spooked us good! Try =Scary House= by ytan0003, Space by IHaveAVeryCreativeName, or Space by caiiseni if you’re a little more brave of heart and looking for something a bit scarier.
