NYC Makers Build STEM Projects and Skills at Fall Mouse Maker Day
On Saturday, November 18th, over 50 makers of all ages joined Mouse staff and volunteers at our makerspace for our Fall Maker Day event. Mouse Maker Day is a free event that gives makers the opportunity to explore new technologies while creating hands-on projects.
Maker Day happens twice a year and gives students twice as much time as our monthly Maker Nights to create, tinker, and build. Maker events at Mouse are the perfect place for young people to explore STEM through virtual reality, game design, circuitry activities, and more.
Maker Day attendees spent the day exploring at these Maker stations:
- Mouse Sewable Tech: Sew a Basic Circuit
- Game Design with Unity
- Light up creatures with Arduino
- Building VR headsets and environments
- Game Design with Paper Prototyping
- Making Robots with Toothbrushes
- Mouse “Design in a Bag” Challenge
- Making Chatbots with JavaScript
Huge shoutout to Maker Day attendees from the following sites: Marsh Avenue School for Expeditionary Learning, St. Joseph High School, JHS157 Stephen A. Halsey, Stuyvesant High School, Harbor Science and Art Cart School, PS 85 Judge Charles Vallone, PS 139, and Lower East Side Preparatory High School — and special thanks to our volunteers that joined us at Maker Day.
